“Supervision of flood protection facilities, Gjirokaster district, Vlora district”
Supervision and control of construction works was carried out for the following segments:
- Repair of the V-3-12 canal that serves as an embankment for the Drinos River
The embankment, which has been rehabilitated and built to the quota, is about 300m long. The embankment was built with gravel and clay, while on the river side the slope was covered with concrete.

- River protection of the Gjirokaster food market
Two different intervention typologies are foreseen in two different segments. The first segment with a length of 100m is built with stone rubble and covered with gabion carpet. In the second segment with a length of 80m, protection with a gabion wall is realized.
- River protection of the Gjirokaster food market
- Protection from the Drinos River in Grehot
To protect this area, the construction of two gabion brushes with a length of 26m and a height of 3.5m is planned at the beginning and end of the damaged area.
- Protection from the Drinos River in Mashkullore
The project implementation of this area envisages the construction of the embankment from scratch with gravel material over a length of 72m. Along the entire length, the construction of gabion breakwaters with dimensions of 1x1x1.5m, which are repeated every 12m, is envisaged.
Protection from the Drinos River in Suhe Gjirokaster
In this segment, the construction of the embankment from scratch with gravel material is foreseen in a length of 192ml. Along the entire length, the construction of breakwater ribs is foreseen, which are repeated every 12ml. The embankment is accompanied by a gabion cushion with a width of 5ml.
Protection from the Drinos River in Karjan and Palokaster
The old embankment is completely damaged, a new embankment with a length of 125m will be built.
Protection from the Drinos River in Shtepez
The implementation project foresees that longitudinal protection will be done by installing gabion walls with a height of 6m and a length of 40m.
Protection in Vranisht, Kallarat
This project provides protection from the Shushica River in the most damaged area, on the left side of the river flow, in the Vranisht area. The length of the bank protection is about 200 m, transverse to the river flow, 5 gabion brushes with a length of 30.5 m each have been built.
